Accomplishments

December 1878	First Mass is held in St. Rose of Lima church.
June 4, 1961	Last Mass is held at St. Rose of Lima church.
February 2002	The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota places St. Rose on Minnesota's 2002 Ten Most Endangered Historic Properties list.
June 2002	Informal group meets to explore the possibility of saving St. Rose.
August 2002	The Friends of St. Rose, Inc. is incorporated and the first board meeting is held.
October 2002	The Minnesota Historical Society identified St. Rose as eligible for designation to the National Register of Historic Places.
January 2003	Board members of the Friends of St. Rose, Inc., meet with Archbishop Harry Flynn to discuss the purchase of St. Rose from the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
October 2003	Archbishop Harry Flynn issues a Decree on October 17th allowing the transfer of title to the Friends of St. Rose, Inc., to purchase the Church of St. Rose of Lima for one dollar.
December 2003	First Annual Candle Lighting Ceremony is held on December 20th.
March 2005	New cedar shingled roof is installed.
July 2005	New twenty-five car parking lot established.
August 2005	Over two hundred and fifty people attend the First Annual Ice Cream Social on August 20th.
September 2005	First wedding is held since 1960 at St. Rose.
June 2006	Additional land is donated to provide more off street parking spaces.
July 2006	Interior restoration work begins with the plastering and painting of the Sanctuary.
March 2007	New cellar doors are installed and repairs are made to the floor and door of the Sacristy.
July 2007	New cement steps are added outside the Sacristy.
November 2007	A new furnace is installed at St. Rose.
April 2008	Outhouse was donated and restored.
June 2008	Ceiling restoration begins.
November 2008	Ceiling, electric, storm windows, and half moon shaped stained glass entrance window restorations are completed.
May 2009	New stained glass window is completed for missing window.
May 2009	New sign for church yard donated by Midwest Signtech is installed.
July 2009	Four windows are removed by Cathedral Crafts for restoration.
August 2009	Entrance vestibule restoration is completed. Four remaining windows are removed for restoration.
December 2009	Stained Glass Window restoration is completed. Wedding held on December 19, 2009.
2010	Original Organ donated and returned
March 2010	Phase 1 of trompe l'oeil imagery restoration completed. Wedding held on March 20, 2010.
August 2010	Phase 1 of Bell Tower restoration completed.
September 2011	Wedding held on September 11, 2010
January 2011	Wedding held on January 15, 2011
April 2011	Wedding held on April 9, 2011
July 2011	Phase 1 of tuckpoint restoration completed.
August 2011	Parking lot project completed.

May 12, 2012	Wedding held at St. Rose
June 2012	Phase 2 of tuck-point restoration completed in early June. June 14, 2012. Major hailstorm damage at St. Rose.
July 2013	Renewal of wedding vows held on July 13, 2013
August 2013	St. Rose is listed on the National Register of Historic Places Spire Restoration done
October 2014	Evening wedding held on October 3, 2014
March 2015	Building Assessment completed.
June 2015	Wedding shower held on June 28, 2015
August 2015	Wedding held on August 15, 2015
September 2015	Wedding held on September 5, 2015
August 2016	Honeybee hive extracted from the Northeast corner of the church
Winter 2016	Sacristy repair begun.
June 2017	Painting of the soffits, storm windows and eaves completed. Vestibule repainted. Cellar Storm door painted.
August 2017	New bronze historical interpretive sign installed with funds received from MN Cultural and Heritage Program grant
December 2017	Steeple Copper Cross Restored
June 2018	Weekend Painting Workshop- Cooperative Project with Crossing at Carnegie Gallery, Zumbrota
July 2018	140th Anniversary Book published
August 2018	New HVAC system installed with funds received for MN Cultural and Heritage Program
2019	Trompe l'oeil Restoration continues
January 2019	Wedding held on January 1, 2019
April/May 2019	Restoration of Columns Painting of Interior walls
May 2019	Holder for the Cross constructed and placed in the church
May 2019	Floor joists reinforced at the East end of the Nave
Summer 2019	Sacristy floor replaced, sanded, stained and finished
August 2019	New handrails installed on the choir steps
September 11, 2019	Steeple hit by lightning. Steeple repaired in November.
November/December 2019	Crawl space dug out so floor joists could be reinforced. New I beam installed along with jacks to support the Nave floor. Floor raised 1-2 inches so there is no sagging or gaps.
December 2019	All Pews were reinforced to provide additional stability. All pews look the same. Some had been reinforced many years ago.
December 2019	Stained glass window installed in the Sacristy replacing the green plexiglass.
2020	Trompe L’oeil restored above the wainscotting in the nave.
2020	Front doors both removed and refinished. Hardware repaired and new keys made.
2020	New doors installed on the outside of the entrance enclosure.
2020	Narthex ceiling, walls, and wainscotting restored.
2020	Restored all twenty-four of the original wooden kneelers.
2020	Virtual Candle Lighting Ceremony recorded and broadcast on the internet.
2021	1.6 acres of land to the west is donated and land cleared for additional parking.
2021	New parking area graded and seeded with grass. Safer road access begins.
2021	ADA compliance issues addressed, and grant received.
